Kinmen, also known as Quemoy, is a Taiwanese island which served as a war site for colonialists and nationalists. With Kinmen's history strongly rooted in warfare, the Zhaishan tunnel–which was once used to service military boats–and the Kinmen National Park are the places to be to discover its battle-driven history. Afterward, pay a trip to Shuitou Village, a 700-year-old settlement housing Chinese and Western-styled buildings. Its coastal waters are also home to protected creatures such as the Chinese otter and the horseshoe crab.
